language
learning a new language is not all about replacing english words with foriegn words but a whole different way of speaking, structuring, wording, phrasing... i guess once i get into it all, i can choice ones again how i want to speak!
"Finns det någonting man kan göra där ute på landet?" meaning "is there anything one can do there out on the countryside?" ... sounds a little posh! so i guess i need to think posh before i translate my english when speaking swedish.

Don't you find they use a lot of archaic idiom, which would explain why a direct translation sounds posh (kind of like reading a book by Jane Austen).
what is an archaic idiom? i have to say, this is all improving my understanding of english too... but on the whole my (speaking) english is getting worse.
jon, jag är glad du lära sig svenska också!
Archaic idiom = old words. like pushchair is child wagon (barn vagn), car is bil (short for automobile), dog is hound (hund)
That's because many of your old words comes from us brought by the vikings.. But now it's the other waty around many of out new words come from you..
Jag är glad att ni båda lär er svenska!
